To Thrive Together has an incredible team of volunteer professional advisors who have donated over 7000 hours of their time to develop the zero-carbon plan for our Bloomingdale Pilot Community.

While we obtain all the necessary permits to put a shovel in the ground, we need your help with some pre-construction community-building projects. It’s a great chance to connect with like-minded people who wish to make a difference.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for people of all ages to participate. High school students, here’s a way to do meaningful volunteer hours in your community.

1. Forest Stewardship Team

The small existing strip of conservation land along the Grand River is struggling with a takeover of invasive species. We need volunteers for forest stewardship and renewal. First, you will research how to safely rid the forest of invasive species and rehabilitate it with local indigenous plants. Then, you’ll implement your plan with hands-on labour and some tender loving care as you trim trees, dig holes, and build the river viewing platform.

2. Social Media Writers/Bloggers

To Thrive Together needs help creating our bi-monthly newsletter that will keep everyone up to date on the project. If you have writing or social media skills, please consider putting them to good use.

3. Communications Assistant

If you like emails, this is the job for you. We require someone to help us answer emails, send messages, arranging meetings and generally keeping our virtual office on track.

4. MicroForest Project

Working with our two micro-forest team leads, volunteers will be involved in research, plant acquisition, preparing the ground and building soil and eventually planting approximately 900 trees in an area the size of a tennis court. How many people get an opportunity to build a forest from the ground up.?

5. Website Manager

If you are familiar with website design, we are seeking someone to help us to manage and update our current website. Familiarity with WordPress is a definite asset, the MailPoet plugin, even better. You will be working with our graphic artist to create regular updates and blogs.

Over the summer, you are likely taking advantage of the beautiful weather; therefore, we have not scheduled formal events, but feel free to contact us to learn more. In September 2021, we will resume our virtual gatherings with guest speakers, educational activities and virtual social events.

Watch for news of our upcoming September 2021 events. In the meantime, email us if you would like to volunteer and help us change the way we care for people and the Earth.

What we are doign to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another.
